Located in the Indian Ocean, near the large Madagascar, the green and small Mauritius (67 km wide and just over 1860 km2) is a very popular holiday destination, especially in France, thanks to its numerous white-sand beaches protected by coral reefs. Not so well known is its underwater world: despite the low abundance of building corals in its warm and calm waters, there is an abundant fauna of tropical fish and invertebrates and also some wrecks popular among divers.
