Galapagos Galapagos, a unique wildlife
The peculiar situation of the Galapagos Islands, in the equatorial area but under the influence of cold currents and upwelling which provide nutrients, determine the richness, complexity and singularity of a marine ecosystem well know among divers. Since the formation of these islands, about 4 million years for the oldest ones and only 7000 for the most recent, in these waters have been installed more than 3000 marine species, of which one fifth are endemic to the Galapagos, having disappeared in the continent of origin. Fresh green waters in the south, with an great abundance of fish, sea lions and even penguins, while to the north there are warm and blue waters in the islets of Wolf and Darwin, where we can see large whale sharks more than 10m in length. Galapagos is a biodiversity paradise and a laboratory for the evolution of life on earth
